Connect your personal agent to Pool

Let an agent like Claude or ChatGPT check balances, move money, and manage your Pools for you.

Pool 101

You can now connect an agent, like Claude, ChatGPT, Grok Bot, or Town to your Pool account. Once it's connected, you can ask things like "What Pools am I in?" or "Move $50 from my Personal Balance to our trip Pool," and it takes care of it in your Pool account.

Important: Your agent acts as you. It has the same access you have in each Pool, so only connect agents you trust, and review what they do.

What your agent can do

  • Create accounts: "Create a Pool called Holiday Travel and invite Amanda."
  • See your money: list your Pools and your Personal Balance, check balances, and look up transfers and statements.
  • Move money: move money between your Personal Balance, your Pools, and your linked bank accounts.
  • Set up recurring deposits: start a weekly or monthly deposit from a linked bank account, skip the next one, or cancel one you set up.

Some things still happen in the Pool app, like linking a bank account, ordering a card, changing your PIN or a Pool's picture, and downloading statements.

What your agent can access

Once connected, your agent can see:

  • Every Pool you're a member of, including its balance, its members, and your role
  • Your Personal Balance
  • Transfers in your Pools and your Personal Balance
  • Which bank accounts you’ve linked
  • Your Pool debit cards (it can lock and unlock them)
  • Your basic profile details, like your name and email

What your agent can do in a Pool depends on your role there. For example, in a Pool where you're a Viewer, your agent can see transactions, but can't move money.

Risks

  • You're responsible for what your agent does in your account.
  • Agents make mistakes. They can misread a request, mix up Pools, or report a balance or date incorrectly. Check anything important at Poolmoney.com.
  • What your agent does depends on the agent: which one you use, how its developer built and trained it, and the safeguards it follows. Two agents can handle the same request differently, and some will hand a step, like moving money, back to you to finish in the Pool app.
  • Before your agent moves money, sets up a recurring deposit, or cancels one, Pool shows you exactly what will happen and asks you to confirm. Read it carefully before you approve.
  • Some actions, like inviting someone to a Pool or pausing a card, happen as soon as your agent asks. Your agent checks with you first, but keep an eye on what it does.
  • Your agent provider's own terms and privacy policy cover what you share with it.

How does Pool connect to my agent?

We use Model Context Protocol (MCP) to connect to your agent. It’s an open standard that allows agents to connect to external applications and services. Pool’s MCP connection makes your financial accounts accessible to compatible agents, subject to your account permissions and existing financial controls.

Before you start

You'll need:

Connect your agent

Every agent uses the same Pool link:

https://mcp.poolmoney.com/mcp

The steps differ a little by app. When you’re asked to sign in, a Pool permission screen opens. Sign in with your Pool account to finish connecting. Your Pool password is never shared with the agent.

Claude

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Pool and paste the Pool link.
  4. Select Connect, then sign in to Pool.

ChatGPT

  1. Open Settings, then Apps.
  2. Under Advanced settings, turn on Developer mode.
  3. Create a new app, name it Pool, and paste the Pool link.
  4. Choose OAuth for authentication, then sign in to Pool.

Claude Code

  1. In your terminal, run: claude mcp add --transport http pool https://mcp.poolmoney.com/mcp
  2. Start Claude Code, type /mcp, select Pool, and sign in.

Codex

  1. In your terminal, run: codex mcp add pool --url https://mcp.poolmoney.com/mcp
  2. Follow the prompt to sign in to Pool. If a sign-in page doesn't open, run: codex mcp login pool

Cursor

  1. Open Cursor Settings, then Tools & MCP.
  2. Add a new MCP server, name it Pool, and paste the Pool link.
  3. Sign in to Pool when prompted.

Grok Bot

  1. Open a conversation with Grok Bot.
  2. Send this message: Add this MCP server: https://mcp.poolmoney.com/mcp
  3. Follow the prompts to confirm the connection, then sign in to Pool.

Other apps

Any app that supports remote MCP servers can connect with the same link. Look for an option to add a custom connector or MCP server, paste the Pool link, and sign in to Pool.

Once you're connected, try asking your agent: "What Pools am I in?"

Give your agent its own Pool

If you'd like your agent to shop or pay for things for you, give it a Pool of its own. Create a Pool for your agent and fund it with only what it should spend. Its card and balance stay separate from the rest of your money, and you can top it up as you go.

Keep in mind: Your agent can still see your other Pools and, where your role allows, move money between them. A separate Pool keeps its spending apart from your other money, but it doesn't limit what the agent can reach.

See and disconnect your agents

To see every agent connected to your account:

  1. In the Pool app, open Settings.
  2. Select Agents.

You'll see each connected agent and the date you connected it. Select Disconnect next to an agent to remove its access.

If you've connected the same app more than once, it appears once for each connection. Disconnect any you no longer use.

If something looks wrong

If your agent did something you didn't expect:

  1. Pause your card in the Pool app.
  2. Disconnect the agent in Settings, then Agents.
  3. Review recent activity in your Pools.
  4. Contact Pool support at hello@poolmoney.com

Your consumer rights still apply

Connecting an agent does not, by itself, eliminate your rights under applicable electronic funds transfer laws or account agreements. If you notice a transfer you did not authorize, an incorrect transaction, or suspicious account activity, report it promptly to hello@poolmoney.com.

Troubleshooting

My agent doesn't have an option to add a connector

Not every agent or plan supports custom connectors. Check your agent's help center or try one of the agents above.

I signed in, but my agent says it isn't connected

Remove Pool from your agent, disconnect it in Settings, then Agents in Pool, and connect again.

My agent was working, then stopped

Your connection may have expired. Sign in to Pool again from your agent.

My agent can't move money

Check that your Pool account is verified, that your role in that Pool lets you move money, and that there's enough spendable money. Money that's still pending can't be moved yet. More reasons you might not be able to move money.

I declined a transfer by mistake, or the confirmation expired

Nothing happened. Ask your agent again and it will show you a new confirmation.

My agent can't change a recurring deposit

Your agent can only skip or cancel recurring deposits you set up yourself. Ask the person who set it up to change it.

My agent says it can't do something

Some things, like linking a bank account, ordering a card, or downloading statements, are only available in the Pool app.
